Cars & food….two of my favorite subjects

It’s been our habit recently to just munch on a few small things from Central Market for our Sunday evening meal instead of having a big sit-down feast.  Tonight we had artichoke dip on baguette toast and some crab and avocado sushi:

Later we had some pineapple/coconut ice box cake. After digesting my food for a while I thought I’d share with you a few more photos I took yesterday at the new car museum:

^ A nicely done Alfa Romeo Spyder

^ Same car, profile.  Given my druthers, THIS is the kind of automobile I would love to see more/photograph more of.  To own one is still out of my reach.

^ A very nicely restored (at least to my amatuer eye) Porsche 356.

^ And finally a Mercedes Benz 500 SWB.  This is the model made famous by owners such as Elvis Presley, Leonid Brezhnev, John Lennon, etc.  I’m more impressed by the past owners list than I am by the car itself, frankly.

It’s starting to thunder and rain, which I think is a perfect way to put the weekend to rest.  G’nite y’all.

I enjoy days like this!

Today has gone pretty well so far. I was up and out (on time even!) for church at 10.  This was the last in their “at the movies” series.  They actually show a movie on a HUGE screen, serve popcorn and soft drinks, then break in now and then to give you their “message”.  Today we saw Gladiator.

After that K and I went to Barnes & Noble for a magazine…a new issue of Evo (UK car magazine) for me, then a Starbucks at a sidewalk table while we read for a while.  It was even cool outside in the shade. Finally we went to Central Market for produce, bread, guacamole…the usual.  I met their olive guru, an older gentleman named Henry.  He was Sicilian, and knew everything you ever wanted to know about olives.  He kept handing me one variety after another saying, “Try this…now try this one… now try…”  When my mouth was so full I couldn’t chew any more, I finally had to excuse myself (a wave and a grunt) and make a hasty retreat.

We’re back home now and K is baking me a coconut cake. (Yum!) Later we’re again eating artichoke dip on thin sliced toast along with sushi and whatever else she has up her sleeve to serve for our dinner.

Hope y’all had a good day, too.  I’ll be back later with a few more car pics.

Anybody know what this is?

Friday night K and I were walking around our neighborhood and we saw this:

There were no identifying markings on it…Harley?…Triumph?  I frankly doubt it’s a truly old, classic motorcycle, but instead is probably a replica.  Anybody help me out here?  Are we in the Twilight Zone?
