Remember the TV show Dallas, and the Ewing family homeplace, South Fork?  ”The big ‘ol house in the field” as I referred to it is still around, and today was the site for a “Tea Party” rally/concert protesting high taxes, big Gubment, and such.  Wonder if the attendees now have their very own personal dossiers in Washington?  ”Hi, I’m from the IRS, and I’m here to help.”  

On the local news this evening they told of a murder that happened in Dallas last night.  It seems a “vendor” was selling computers to a group “under a bridge” at 2am when he was shot and killed.  HELLO??  Ya think he mighta been a sales rep for Rolex watches, too?

The Texas Game Wardens are all over the local lakes this weekend looking for drunk boaters. Good.  Drinking and driving, regardless of the mode of transportation, is bad.  It also said they were looking for intoxicated swimmers, and so far this weekend 7 people have drowned. Of course I’m saddened they’re gone, but I’m thinkin’ there are some good Darwin Award stories to be told about that illustrious group.  Not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer, were they?

It’s a shame our Founding Fathers and Mothers didn’t have the foresight to know that someday The Land of a Million Mesquite Trees (aka Texas) would be the 28th state of the Union.  If they had, they would have known it’s too hot here on July 4th to go out and do very much celebrating.  Knowing that they could have maybe postponed the revolution until it was cooler, say October.  

No, that wouldn’t work either, come to think of it…..football season.

Whatever.  Hope y’all have a happy Fourth.
